Riesling Wines
Our wine-maker, Kevin Mitchell, is also the founder and chief wine-maker at Kilikanoon Wines, and won a gold star for his Riesling at the 2006 International Wine and Spirits Competition.
This means that you’ll taste nothing but the world’s best Riesling at Glendalough Estate. The valley is known the world over for its Riesling, which is generally considered the best in Australia, thanks to ideal growing conditions and local expertise.
Australian Riesling tends to be dryer than the German variety, which makes it a better companion to food.
Our Riesling vines are grown in loam soil over sandstone. This allows the vines to take on that ‘flinty’ character which prevails on the palate.
Citrus flavours of lime, lemon and ripe peaches and balanced by natural acidity is typical of the Rieslings of the Armagh Valley.
